Leeds United have completed the signing of Will Buckley on a 93-day loan from Sunderland.

The winger finalised his transfer this morning, two weeks after moving to Leeds to begin training with Uwe Rosler’s squad.

United delayed completion of the 25-year-old’s switch to ensure that his emergency loan - limited to a maximum of 93 days by Football League rules - will run to the start of the January transfer window.

Buckley has signed until January 2, a deal which ends after United’s home game against MK Dons.

He will go straight into the squad for tomorrow’s clash with Birmingham City and is in line for a full debut at Elland Road.

The former Brighton player - a £2.5m signing by Sunderland last summer - has been frozen out at the Stadium of Light and has not featured for Sunderland’s first team this season.

Buckley told United’s official website: “It feels like a fresh start for me.

“I’ve got a point to prove that I can get back to the Premier League. To play games and to perform well is my aim now.”
